Engineering and consulting firm Egis has announced it will create 100 new jobs in Ireland, strengthening its support for national infrastructure development and sustainability goals. The announcement was made during the official opening of Egis’ newly renovated engineering headquarters at Classon House in Dundrum, Dublin, attended by Tánaiste Simon Harris, TD.
Egis, part of the France-headquartered Egis Group, currently employs more than 630 people across 16 locations in Ireland. The company specialises in designing and operating infrastructure and buildings that promote climate resilience, sustainable development, and balanced urban growth. Globally, Egis operates in over 100 countries and employs more than 20,500 people.
The 100 new jobs are primarily in the field of engineering and will be rolled out over the next 12 months. This expansion reflects Egis’ continued commitment to supporting Ireland’s infrastructure pipeline, particularly as outlined in the Government’s €275.4 billion National Development Plan (NDP) over the period between 2026-2035.
Egis is investing in digital engineering, smart infrastructure, and sustainable construction techniques, helping Ireland future-proof its infrastructure. This includes using lifecycle carbon analysis in design, applying digital twins for infrastructure management, and promoting the use of low-impact materials and construction practices. Such innovation directly supports Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
With climate change intensifying extreme weather events, infrastructure designed for resilience is no longer optional, it’s essential. Egis’ approach incorporates environmental risk assessments and low-carbon engineering methods to ensure that new transport and water projects can withstand flooding, heat stress, and future climate variability. This aligns with Ireland’s Climate Action Plan targets for adaptation and carbon reduction.
The NDP includes major national infrastructure projects, such as the Dart+ railway programme and water services improvements including the Shannon to Dublin water pipeline. Egis aims to use its growing Irish workforce to bolster its ability to deliver these strategic projects effectively.
Speaking at the event, Tánaiste Simon Harris said:
“Egis has already successfully partnered with the Government and a number of state agencies on the delivery and operation of major infrastructure projects, so I greatly welcome the company’s plans to continue expanding and to create 100 new jobs over the next year.”
He emphasised that this is a crucial time for infrastructure delivery, and that the Government is investing significantly to support population growth, enhance quality of life, and attract global investment.
The expansion follows recent contract awards to Egis, including a Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) contract to operate and maintain:
The Dublin Tunnel
The Jack Lynch Tunnel
Monitoring of over 1,200 km of Ireland’s motorway network
These projects highlight the company’s technical expertise and long-term involvement in the operation and maintenance of essential national infrastructure.
As a global firm focused on climate-conscious development, Egis continues to integrate sustainability and resilience into every project it undertakes. The company’s operations in Ireland align with national goals to decarbonise transport, improve water management, and future-proof public infrastructure against climate risks.
The new jobs at Egis offer more than employment, they open the door to careers in sustainable infrastructure and green engineering. Through apprenticeships, internships, and professional training, Egis can help build Ireland’s next generation of climate-aware engineers and project managers, addressing a national skills shortage in low-carbon construction and design.
Egis’ investment in 100 new Irish jobs is a strategic move to strengthen its support for the Irish Government’s infrastructure goals under the NDP. It reflects a deepening partnership between public and private sectors in building a more resilient, sustainable, and future-ready Ireland.
As the company continues to expand its operations and workforce, Egis is positioned to play a central role in shaping Ireland’s infrastructure landscape, supporting both economic growth and environmental stewardship.
