Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland have jointly led a trade and investment mission to Germany, aimed at enhancing economic partnerships and driving opportunities for increased trade and collaboration between Ireland and Germany, Europe’s largest economy. The mission was led by Minister for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, Niamh Smyth T.D., and focused on the southern German regions of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
The initiative highlights Ireland’s commitment to deepening ties within the European Single Market, particularly in high-value sectors including Construction, Agri-Tech, Automotive, Aviation, Space, and MedTech.
Several Enterprise Ireland client companies made significant announcements during the mission, underlining the innovative capabilities of Irish firms and their growing presence in the German market:
Réaltra, a leading Irish space technology company, announced a landmark contract with ArianeGroup to provide on-board live video telemetry for the Ariane 6 rocket, reinforcing Ireland’s growing role in Europe’s space industry.
AMACH, an Irish aviation cloud innovation company, has partnered with Jeppesen, a flight navigation firm owned by Boeing, to deliver advanced cloud and AI solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency in aviation.
Combilift, a global leader in material handling solutions, is showcasing its 100,000th Combi-CBE forklift at the EuroBLECH trade show. With a strong presence in the DACH region, Combilift is contributing to Germany’s logistics and automation sectors through its electric, multidirectional forklifts and tailored multilingual support.
Portwest, a global workwear brand headquartered in Ireland, announced a strategic partnership with Hoffmann, expanding its safety solutions and value delivery across Germany and wider European markets.
ProSys Group, an Irish provider of pharmaceutical process equipment, has collaborated with Merz Therapeutics and PPT Engineering to establish a pilot plant in Frankfurt for clinical trial manufacturing of sterile liquids.

Total two-way trade between Ireland and Germany has exceeded €60 billion, doubling since 2015. Irish companies currently employ over 40,000 people in Germany, while German companies support nearly 15,000 jobs in Ireland, particularly in sectors such as technology, life sciences, and financial services.
Minister Niamh Smyth emphasized that this mission reflects Ireland’s Market Diversification Strategy and the government’s commitment to deepening its engagement with strategic European partners. She stated:
“By showcasing the innovation and expertise of Irish companies in sectors like MedTech, space, and sustainable construction, we are building lasting partnerships that drive mutual growth and create high-value opportunities for both nations.”
Kevin Buckley, Head of Germany DACH at Enterprise Ireland, highlighted the strength of Irish innovation:
“Irish companies in life sciences and MedTech are at the forefront of global innovation, and this mission to Germany provides a platform to strengthen collaborations with one of the world’s leading markets.”
Bernard Smith, European Director at IDA Ireland, noted the importance of promoting Ireland as a business destination:
“This mission plays an important role in deepening our relationships with key decision makers from leading companies in the region in order to win new investments for Ireland.”
