Mitsubishi and Irish tech firm EVHACS have launched a world-first system that combines a home heat pump with an electric vehicle charger. The integrated unit offers energy-efficient heating, cooling, and EV charging in one smart device, controlled via an app and designed to simplify sustainability while reducing emissions and household energy costs.
Global electronics giant Mitsubishi Electric has partnered with Irish technology company EVHACS to launch what is believed to be the world’s first integrated home unit that combines a heat pump with an electric vehicle (EV) charger. The innovation aims to simplify clean energy upgrades for households by merging two of the biggest contributors to residential energy use, heating/cooling and EV charging, into a single, intelligent system.
This new system brings together Mitsubishi’s HVAC expertise with EVHACS’ smart EV charging technology. The result is a single unit capable of efficiently managing both home climate control and vehicle charging, without overloading the home’s energy supply.
“This partnership marks a major leap forward in sustainable building technology,” said Ciaran Moody, President of Mitsubishi Electric Ireland.
This partnership is beneficial for the following ways:
Heat pumps, as explained by the U.S. Department of Energy and the International Energy Agency, are among the most energy-efficient ways to heat and cool a home. Rather than generating heat, they move it, either into your home in winter or out of it in summer, cutting energy use by up to 50% or more compared to traditional systems.
EVHACS’ charger supports AC tethered charging, providing drivers with the convenience of at-home charging while reducing carbon emissions associated with gasoline vehicles. The system can save motorists up to $1,500 annually in fuel and maintenance costs, according to environmental tech sources.
The integrated system is app-controlled and includes dynamic load balancing, which ensures that energy demands from heating, cooling, and EV charging don’t overload household electrical systems. This intelligent energy management means users can enjoy both climate control and vehicle charging, without needing to upgrade their home’s electrical infrastructure.
The combined system is currently available in Ireland, where EVHACS is headquartered. While rollout in other markets has not yet been confirmed, the partnership suggests ambitions to expand internationally.
“This solution makes sustainability simpler and more accessible for everyone,” said Jeff Aherne, CEO of EVHACS.
Reducing reliance on fossil fuels for both home energy and transport has a measurable impact on greenhouse gas emissions. According to NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), planet-warming emissions are contributing to extreme weather, rising sea levels, and glacier melt.
Mitsubishi and EVHACS’ solution tackles both household and transportation emissions in one package, making it a powerful tool for climate-conscious consumers.
For U.S. consumers, time-sensitive tax incentives could influence decision-making. According to recent reports:
EV tax credits are ending early on September 30
Heat pump incentives are set to expire at the end of the year
This makes now a critical moment to take advantage of government rebates and incentives, which can be worth thousands of dollars.
Mitsubishi offers a network of trusted professionals to help guide homeowners through heat pump installation and ensure compatibility with the new system.
“This is about convergence,” said Aherne, speaking to the vision behind EVHACS’ charger tech.
Rather than thinking of sustainability in separate categories, heating, transportation, electricity, this innovation integrates systems into one clean-energy solution. It represents a shift in how we build and live in homes, making climate action more accessible and less complicated.
As other companies explore similar integrations, Mitsubishi and EVHACS have placed themselves at the forefront of sustainable home technology.
Mitsubishi and EVHACS have launched a first-of-its-kind product: a heat pump and EV charger combo unit that simplifies clean energy adoption at home. With smart controls, energy balancing, and dual benefits for climate and cost savings, the system is a timely innovation, especially as global energy costs rise and climate urgency increases.
Available now in Ireland, this technology sets a bold precedent for the future of smart, sustainable living.
